An initiative that grew into a platform

Among Celesta's early initiatives were guest sessions with students and young researchers who have experience in advanced astronomy programs and competitions. They included PROMYS scholars and medalists from the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics.

The sessions gave students a look at paths in astronomy that are often hard to reach through school activities. They also set an early direction for Celesta: connecting students with people who are actively involved in astronomy, research, mathematical problem-solving and advanced STEM programs.

Celesta runs an internship program that brings students into the organization's technical, research and outreach work. Recruitment extended beyond India, with interns joining from countries including Tunisia and Brazil.

Interns contribute to technology, research, social media and organizational development as part of an international student community.

CelestaGPT is an AI-based astronomy mentor built as part of Celesta's educational initiatives. Students can use it to explore astronomy and related STEM topics through conversation.

It reflects a wider aim: using technology to lower the barriers that keep students from specialized astronomy knowledge.

Celesta keeps a presence on Discord, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and Devpost, so students can reach opportunities and learning material beyond a conventional classroom.

The Discord community has grown to 88 members as of August 2026. It is a space for discussion, project coordination, opportunities and hackathon participation.
